The Intro

I love playing the ukelele. Its my hobby, my therapy, and one of my favorite things to do.

I also love teaching people how to play the ukulele. I want people that play this small but mighty instrument to be able to utilize it to its full capacity. It is not just a baby instrument with four strings, made to play "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on the beach in Hawaii; rather, it's an instrument that has beautiful tone and tons of potential!

I own a Mya Moe custom made, tenor, koa ukulele. Check out their website here. Its name is Tito Pepe. Tito has incredible tone and is extemely easy to play. (If you are interested in playing the ukulele for reals I would recommend that you buy a higher quality ukulele. Your learning experience will be so much better. I won't go into it now, but if you want to know all of the ins and outs of ukulele buying just let me know!)

I first started learning on a soprano Silvertone ukulele that was at my grandparent's house, then my daddy got me a tenor Cordoba from Best Buy and I had that one up until I received my Mya Moe last year. I taught myself all that I know through Youtube, "slowdowner" apps, listening, and most importantly, playing. Throughout my learning journey I have gathered quite a few ideas and principles that not only apply to the uke but also to music in general. I also have seen a lot of ways to learn that can make your learning experience more pleasant and fun!

This blog is for the ukulele player that wants to better his/her auto-learning system, ear, and that wants to learn some cool chords, songs, licks, and tips in the process!!!

I will try to post something here every week so you can have plenty of fuel for playing!

Stay tuned for more (pun intended),

Emily Jo
